The House of Principles

Propel training house of principles

The House of Principles

The House of Principles is core to the training we offer. The first book that we teach in groups goes into detail about the House of Principles. Below is an explanation of the House of Principles.

Jesus and His Word

This is the Rock on which the house is build. If the house is built on the Rock, it will stand. But, if it is built on the sand, it will fall.

Trust

This is the foundation for the house. Without a strong foundation, the house will not stand. Trust is imperative in any financial institution. Without trust, there can be no properly functioning savings group.

Transparency

This is the first pillar of the house. All transactions must take place in front of all the group members. No money can be exchanged outside of group meetings. Proper records must also be kept and these records must be available for all members to view at any time.

Discipline

This is the second pillar of the house. Members must be disciplined in keeping their commitments. If a member takes a loan, he or she must repay it by the agreed time.

Leadership

This is the third pillar of the house. In order to have a strong group, there must be strong leaders. A group needs leaders who provide direction for the group. The leaders must enforce the policies of the group. The leaders must keep Christ in the center of the group.

Prayer

This is part of the roof of the house. Prayer is the group’s connection to God. When the group faces challenges, they have a connection to One who knows the solution. Groups open all meetings with a word of prayer.

Relational Support

This is also part of the roof. If we try to do things on our own, we will fail. However, when we band together and work as a team, we can accomplish much. Group members are taught about reconciliation and good relationships. When strong relationships are present in a group, the group can pass through many challenges.

Stewardship

This is another part of the roof. Group members are taught how to use their money wisely. When we take care of what God has entrusted to us, no matter how small it is, God can multiply is for His purposes.

Reflection

This is the last part of the roof. We need to reflect on Jesus and His Word. Also we need to reflect on who we are and where we are going. When we reflect, we take time to think about important things in our lives and can then make necessary adjustments to move in the proper direction.
