Our Method

We exist to empower savings groups through holistic training. Groups are trained on strong group dynamics, family finance, and small business. We start new savings groups and also partner with existing savings groups. Training is done from a Biblical perspective. We are a non-profit company and therefore we do not charge for our services. We do not provide loans or free gifts. We are here to offer consulting and ongoing training to savings groups.

It takes a lot of dedication, perseverance and prayer to have a high quality, strong savings group. A savings group must be built on the Rock which is Jesus and His Word. There must be a foundation of trust. There must be transparency, discipline and leadership. There must also be stewardship, prayer, reflection and relational support. When all of these principles are taught and followed, a savings group will be strong. Such a group can be compared to someone who builds their house on a solid foundation. Then, when hard times come, the group will continue to stand.

Our training is done by a Propel Facilitator during normal group meetings. The facilitator needs around 30 - 45 minutes at each group meeting to deliver a lesson. The facilitator is also like an adviser or consultant to the group. He or she will advise the leadership and help guide the group. However, the facilitator will not force the group to do anything. At Propel we influence and train while leaving the final decision to the group leadership and group membership. The facilitator does not handle group funds in any way. We have over 25 volunteer facilitators throughout East Africa.

We want to see people making progress both materially and spiritually. We fight poverty by providing Christ-centered education. At Propel, we strive to empower people to success and full relationships.
